Another dear friend's gift. This is his main character, Dameon Starwind--a really cool Zorro/vigilante-rogue-type fellow.
"The wind it whispers to him,
The stars, they light his sword"
I can't wait until his story is finished being written!
(And a side note--the scanner COMPLETELY devoured my colored pencils. I weep. It looked far better in person. He didn't look so....stalkerish. Gahh.)
EDIT:
Dameon's creator recently created an Elfwood account, where you can read the story behind this fellow, as well as other masterfully crafted poems and stories. Be sure to check him out here! [link]
It worked out better than I'd intended. It's this rather nifty art paper that comes in all sorts of colors--great for colored pencils. You can get really good hilights really quickly with white or light pencils.
Thanks!

Scanners :[ that is why I gave up on trying to use pencils. I could never get it to scan right. Still looks great though.. only thing that bothers me is, I can't figure out where the light source is. I can see all the folds in his clothing, you have a sort of diffuse light hitting him everywhere, but if the room is dark and the light is from the starry sky behind then he ought to be mostly in blackness with highlights around the edges... errr, did I make any sense?
Oh, I definitely agree. I was mumbling quite a bit while doing it...something about how dark characters wearing all black should not go skulking about in the dead of night and expect portraits to be drawn of them....
My reasoning was that the star/moonlight would have reflected back onto him from the surfaces in the room. Since it was somewhat of a character portrait, I decided to ignore physics slightly and make him more visible than he should be (YEEargh!). And then the scanner ate it. Behhhhhhhhh. I wish I could re-draw it.
Thanks so much for your comment! I really value people's input and suggestions. Have a loverly day!

You have quite a mastery of color! The many blues blend perfectly.
Fine work!
